Meet the Team

I’m Jessie Spence (they/them), a Licensed Counselor Supervisor. Supporting my clients as they learn about themselves is my life’s work. I work hard to cultivate a space of non-judgment because therapy only works when you can be vulnerable, take risks, and grow. I don’t just tolerate diversity; I celebrate my LGBTQ+, fat, neurodivergent, and Highly Sensitive clients as the beautiful people they are.

I’ve been counseling since 2010, and I’ve learned a lot over the years. I know when to give a supportive nudge toward change, and I know when to listen with empathy. My clients appreciate that I’m gentle yet firm with challenging them. My approach is psychodynamic and values-based, meaning that I believe we are not defined by our moods or “dysfunctions” but by our values and core self. My work centers Acceptance & Commitment therapy, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, and secular Buddhism. My goal is to show up for my clients in a trauma informed way: centering safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment.

I’m not taking new clients right now, but I have personally vetted each therapist who works with me and trust them immensely. We always welcome inquiries and will help you get scheduled with a therapist who is a good fit.

I’m Devan Pope (he/him), and I help young adults, men, and trans* folks. My clients are typically struggling with anxiety, trauma (including religious trauma), and identity. I help them discover their authentic selves, calm their fearful minds, create fulfilling relationships, and live lives of intention and heart-centered presence. My approach is person-centered, meaning that my goal is to support you in finding the best solutions for yourself through self-discovery and self-acceptance. I’m also trained in EMDR and Motivational Interviewing.

My name is Devin Sioma (she/her). Perhaps you’re navigating depression, anxiety, life transitions, challenging relationships, low self-worth, or even healing from trauma that makes traditional therapy feel like too much. Together, we will co-create a compassionate space that honors both your resilience and insight as you move towards a deeper understanding of yourself. I enjoy collaborating with adolescents and adults who are creative, curious, and ready to live in alignment with their truth.

My approach is grounded in empowerment, acceptance, and listening with the intention of truly understanding my clients both as individuals and as a meaningful part of their larger environment. I have specialized training in Expressive Arts, but also have more traditional training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy.

I’m Kathleen Maloney, LPA (she/her). I work with clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and diagnoses, including depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and trauma-related disorders. I provide culturally-competent care with an eclectic approach, and work in multiple therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.

I’m well equipped to help adolescents and adults struggling with mood and anxiety, ADHD, and life transitions.

Dr. Keilan Rickard (he/him) has been independently licensed as a psychologist since 2013, treating a variety of clinical concerns and diverse populations over the years. Board certified (ABPP) as a clinical psychologist since 2021, he has expertise working with emerging adults, queer communities, and folks who are in recovery from substance use problems.

His approach to therapy draws from numerous clinical traditions, including psychoanalysis, CBT, ACT, DBT, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing. Additionally, he borrows from non-clinical literatures, such as queer theory, linguistic theory, existential-phenomenology, anthropology, and critical race theory to inform his understanding of humanity.

I’m Makeba Casey (she/her). I’m trained in social work, which means I have education and experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatments, communication skills, creating a safe therapeutic relationship, and organizing for causes that are important to me within my community. I’m trained in Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Active Parenting Now, Person-Centered Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy approaches.

We will collaborate to find new ways of dealing with your life stressors, depression, anxiety, or chronic health conditions. I help couples learn to talk and actually hear each other. I witness grief, creating a space where it can be understood and overcome. Healing, growth, and change are possible.

Hi! I’m Teta Johnson (she/her).

I see my clients as not a collection of symptoms but people who have adapted and evolved to cope with the world around them. Our world is difficult to navigate for creative, sensitive folks who do not fit into societal norms. I work with clients who want to learn how to be themselves in a world that doesn’t always value them.

I’m here to walk along side clients and honor their inner wisdom as they move toward living life in a more authentic, joyful and connected way. I love seeing clients relearn what it means to be at home within themselves.

I celebrate neurodivergent experiences, body diversity, sexual and gender diversity.

I use the following modalities and theories: trauma informed, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Feminist Psychotherapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I’m Yolanta Holness (she/her), and I am passionate about creating an inclusive space where you can be yourself and trust in our process. I’m trauma-informed, which means I am committed to empathy, client autonomy, safety, trust, and empowerment. I recognize the intersectionality of identities and the importance of honoring each person’s lived experiences. I utilize different therapeutic approaches to cater to the unique needs of my clients. These approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Relation-Cultural Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Each of these modalities is evidence-based and has been proven effective in addressing various mental health concerns.

We are forever grateful for administrative assistant, Amy G (she/her), who works remotely from another state. Clients can reach out to Amy and trust that there will be no conflicts of interest or privacy due to her location. Amy has signed a Business Associate Agreement and Confidentiality Agreement with Spence Counseling, PLLC. Royall Spence (he/they) is our Business Administrator. He works behind the scenes doing accounting and QA/compliance.

Peanut (also answers to Buddy, Bubs, and the rustling of the treat bag) is a Flemish Giant rabbit. Besides providing a cute wriggling nose that prompts smiles, Peanut helps clients with nervous system regulation. Clients who have experienced trauma have found healing in building trust with him.

Clients with eating disorders have found it healing to feed him. If a client is not interested in being around Peanut, I ensure he is not in the office–no questions, consequences, or judgement.
